April 21 : Children visit from Tanzania

Some children from the Bethany Project in Tanzania came to see us. They told us about themselves and sang 'In the Jungle' and the national anthem of their country.

We really enjoyed meeting them, especially Year 5 who had time to talk more. You can find out more by going to www.occuk.com

March 29 : Road Safety Play

We had a play called 'Cat-o-Nine Lives' which taught us how to be safe on the roads. It was fun but it was serious, too, because lots of children get hurt every year.

March 20 : New Woodland Walk

THe Friends of Hippings raised some money to make a walk through the small wood next to the playground. Year Six also planted some flowers

We can use the walk at playtimes and it also helps us to get close to the plants and creatures that live there.

November 12 : We Learn Clog Dancing

Alex Fisher came to school to talk about Clog Dancing and teach us how to do some steps.

We had a good time, but it was hard work. Mr Martin colud hardly walk on Wednesday morning!

Oswaldtwistle has its own Clog Dance Group called the Ossy Cloggers

November 3 : The New Extension Opens

The new extension for Year 3 was finally finished and the class had a special party to celebrate.

The Queen and Prince Philip came to open the new extension. They were very nice.

September 24 : John Saddique Visits Us

Year 5 Had a visit from John Saddique who is a poet working with Mid Pennine Arts. We had a lot of fun, especially the 'Echo Song' which we sang as loud as we could!!

We wrote some poems which we performed at Rhyddings school on the Thursday Evening. Click here to see John's Web Page.

August 29th : Mr Haslam completes 25 Years

Mr Haslam started as Headteacher of Hippings on 29th August 1978. We surprised him with a special assembly at the end of the Summer Term. Some of the children wrote special poems and there were lots of visitors including some children he had taught who are now parents!

We bought him a watch and a digital camera.
