June 17 : Cricket Coaching for Year 5

 

Year 5 have been doing a lot of cricket recently. Today they had a coaching session with Nick and Greg from Church Cricket Club.

Greg is from Australia and plays professional cricket there

 

May 16 : We went to Eureka

 

Reception Class had a day at Eureka in Halifax.

They did lots of exciting experiments!

 

May 17 : Skating Day

 

The Friends of Hippings organised an indoor skating day at school.

It wasn't as fast as real ice but you didn't fall over as much!

 

April 3 : Visit from Sawmteii

 

Sawmteii is from the eastern part of India and works with a church in Blackburn.

She does all sorts of things with the children there and helps in the church.

She tolds us about her home and that she is going to live in Canada soon.

 

 

April 4 :WPC Tracy Finn comes to see us

 

Tracy is the Police Community Beat Manager. Her job is to look after Oswaldtwistle and help to keep everyone safe.

She told some of Year 3 children about her work and what all her equipment was used for.

Tracy comes to school to see us sometimes.

 

 

The KS1 Children performed their Christmas Play -'The Grumpy Sheep'.

They were fantastic! The Grumpy sheep smiles when she sees Jesus at the end of the story.

November 21 : Robin and the Withering Wood

 

We had a visit from the Kinetic Theatre who did a show called 'Robin and the Withering Wood'.

It was really funny and we learned some Science, too. Here are some children doing a dance about Photosynthesis. Robin pretended to be Elvis.

 

November 18 : Cedric Says Thanks!

 

Caroline and Cedric came to school to say thanks from the National Children's Homes.

Our fundraising from Cedric's Challenge came to over £600.

Cedric was our special visitor and hugged some of his favourite people!

 

November 12 : Alan Brown Visits School


Alan Brown, a children's writer, came to school to help us learn how to write. We visited the Nature Park at Foxhill Bank to get some ideas.

Then we used the ideas to write about how th different animals might have felt during the time the mills were built and after the area went back to being woodland again.
